Before I wandered into science journalism, I was a mathematician. My undergraduate degree is from Princeton and I received an MS from the Yale mathematics department. (My Erdös number is [at most] 5: Erdös -> Rothschild -> Golubitsky -> Collins -> Moss -> Seife. [Thanks to Steven Strogatz for finding this!])(Update: I now have a 4. Details TK.)

I also have a MS in Journalism from Columbia.

I am a member of PEN, the National Association of Science Writers, and DCSWA.
