San Francisco and Elsewhere in California

After living on the West Coast for the past five years now, I've become so accustomed to the nice weather, clean air, and people we usually hang out with. Here are just some sights in the Bay Area...and elsewhere.

This is Ghiradelli Square, where the chocolate store is. Many people visit this place, so it's quite festive at night.

This is Alcatraz, a deserted prison. The movie The Rock was filmed here. I took this picture when on a boat that was showing some of San Francisco's highlights.

This is when I had traveled to San Francisco to cover one of Fulcrum's conferences. I stayed at the ANA Hotel and this is one of the pictures I took from my hotel room window.
I also took this picture from my hotel room window.

One day my boyfriend and I decided to drive along the far coast of California to get to San Francisco. The day was kind of cloudy and it was late in the afternoon when we embarked on this journey. We stopped by an area where we can see rock formations in the ocean. Doesn't this rockish island look like the place that "Goonies" was filmed?
This is a place that interested and puzzled both of us. What is it? An old destroyed building? A long abandoned community? A former military base from the 1940s? Can you guess what this used to be?
If you guessed an old bathing place, then you guessed right!
