Why Open Source?

Using open source software means that the source code and algorithms used are a matter of public record.

Security flaws can be patched immediately by anyone with the requisite technical skills -- even if the original developer is unwilling or unable to do so.

The software will be licensed under the General Public License (GPL). Source code will be made available as required by this license via FTP.
