16 свечей зажжены в синагоге на 6-ом Брайтоне равом Гиршом Окуневым
День памяти трагедии 11 сентября 2001 года выпал в этом году на 31 августа. В этот день раввин синагоги F.R.E.E. Гирш Окунев прочитал Кадиш в память о жертвах 11 сентября.
День памяти совпал с субботой (Шаббатом), поэтому митинг-марш и все мероприятия, посвященные этому дню, были перенесены на воскресенье. По древней традиции, во всех синагогах мира в каждый день месяца элул звучит шофар и читают псалмы Давида, на митинге их исполнил кантор из Израиля Авром Прессман (Иерусалим).
16 факелов пронесли по Брайтону ученики ешивы, 16 свечей зажжены в синагоге на 6-ом Брайтоне равом Гиршом Окуневым, 16 имен высечены на мемориальной доске на стене синагоги в память о 16-ти погибших русскоязычных евреев 11 сентября.

Hearings on the Koppell Resolution was held Tuesday, July 9th at
City Council Chambers in lower Manhattan.
Council Member Koppell was joined by Rabbi Avi Weiss on the steps of City Hall to urge the City Council
to pass Resolution #7, introduced by Koppell in January, calling for President Bush to
declare the Palestinian Organization and the Palestinian Authority to be terrorist organizations,
and, consistent with U.N.
treaty obligations, to close the Mission office of the Palestinian Authority in New York City.
