Lingo Internet Telephone
Internet telephones are the newest form of communication and offer incredible services for a VERY low price. You need a broadband connection (cable, DSL, satellite) for this to operate. They send a modem that plugs into any broadband ethernet connection from a cable or DSL etc modem. This modem connects to their server and any standard telephone (or several, cordless wired etc) plugs into the modem. When you pick up the phone there is a dial tone and you can call anyplace in USA, Canada, and 17 or so countries in Western Europe (check website for list but in summary most of the E-U countries) 24/7 with no time limits or additional charges (except European mobile or special phones) Countries outside the plan are billed at a VERY low rate, most around 3 or 4 cents a minute.This is THE phone service for the cat fancy!!! While you do need a broadband connection you do not need a computer for this to operate. Nor any programming etc. It is just like any telephone EXCEPT for the charges at the end of the month. It has just about any telephone feature you want or could think of including 3 way calling (you can call friends in 2 different countries and have a nice 3 way call for the same flat fee) and the most incredible set of forwarding and selective options imaginable. The modem only needs a broadband connection so if you are traveling and there is a broadband connection you can take your phone with you and have your local number with you even if in a different country or continent.
It also has a complete call summary incoming and outgoing, (as a PDF download) and voicemail (including email forwarding of wav file if you want, or forwarding the call to a preset number IF the caller dials '0') and an incoming call can be set to ring up to 10 different phone numbers, so it is hard to miss a call even if you are away from the modem. And you can selectively forward calls based on time of day and/or day of week and incoming number etc. I use this feature to call Europe from the USA even if I am at a different location than the modem. I can log on to the account and change forwarding from the number I am at (or my mobile number) and ONLY that number to the number I want to call. There are more features than you are likely to ever use. And you can have local phone numbers (or port your present number) or several different numbers in different areas of the country (or several European countries) for an additonal charge. Our Paris USA access number, for example, is a local Paris (landline) telephone number that rings in both USA locations when it is called. Very convenient for friends there to call me, or I can call home from Paris for a local call. This list of features is a very small part of the total list of available options and features.
